Leader Applications ⎔ SAC June 2024 Hey there everyone! Welcome to the leader applications project for Scratch Art Camp's June 2024 session! Your hosts this session will be Poem (@PandasCodingGames), Seven (@rainyweek), and Dawn (@Dawn_Camps). The co-hosts for this session aren't yet finalized, but stay tuned for that announcement! Please make sure that you read through *everything* in both the project and the description if you're interested in applying. A huge, giant thank you goes out to all those who have contributed to SAC, as we couldn't be here without you!! - ⎔ - Scratch Art Camp (commonly abbreviated as SAC) is an online camp hosted on Scratch three times a year! SAC occurs in June, October, and February. You will set a goal on how many minutes you want to spend creating art during the month, and you work towards reaching that goal all session long! You will be assigned to one of our lodges, which are places you will interact with your lodgemates and partake in exciting activities. You can also do activities in the Main Lodge in order to earn points for your individual lodge! If you want to learn more about SAC, check out our Frequently Asked Questions: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/555823473/ - ⎔ - Applications are due by 11:59 pm Newfoundland Time on April 28th. On the 29th of April, the (co)hosts will decide the leaders of the lodges and notify them! All applications will be looked at after you've remixed the project, as well as after the deadline, in case you've changed anything. If you want to learn more about the kind of things that we look for in an application, check out this project: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/592461088/ - ⎔ - ALL APPLICANTS PLEASE READ!! We will again be continuing "the cut" this session. The cut is a method to help make sure that we are getting the best quality leader and co-leader teams as possible. Leaders will be choosing their co-leader from a group of (around) 6 applicants. If a leader sees an application that has not made the cut, yet they like that application, they may write a 4-6 sentence summary of why they would like that person to be their co-leader. The hosts will re-evaluate the person, and come back to the leader with an answer. This method was brought to us by ; thank you so much for it! - ⎔ - I'm interested in applying for (co) leader, but don't know which one to apply for... -> Leaders tend to have more responsibility than the co-leaders since they're more in charge of their lodge. This means that they're able to make bigger decisions about their lodge. They also are expected to be interacting with campers and being active as much as possible. Leaders are also promoted in the main lodge, and will be able to add points there, where as co-leaders will remain curators and will be unable to add points. Both co-leaders and leaders will be able to add minutes from campers' art in their lodge. We all communicate and plan in a discussion forum. I've never been a leader and/or never have participated in SAC before - can I apply or will more experienced people be chosen over me? -> Experience really doesn't matter! If you've never been in camp before, or you've been a inactive camper in the past, the hosts will recommend a co-leader that's experienced so that they can help you out. If you're a co-leader, then your leader will help guide you throughout the whole planning process and all of camp ^^ What are the lodges this session? - Acrylic - Botanical - Charcoal - Digital - Ink - Monochrome With the studio update, only the owner can change the description. How will this affect my work as (co)leader? -> If you want information on this topic, we've made two projects that explain how things will be working. You can find the one for the Main Lodge here: The one for individual lodges is here: What timezone does SAC operate in? -> SAC operates in the Newfoundland timezone, or NT! This means dailies and weekendlies will change at midnight NT - If you don’t know what time that is in your time zone, you can look it up or ask in the comments. When will camper signups be posted? -> They should be posted on 's profile on May 1st! If you'd like to be notified for them, feel free to ask in the comments down below. - ⎔ - Credits: - SWC for the idea and inspiration of SAC - Music is "Down by the Water" by Ocie Elliott - for founding SAC - for co-founding SAC - All past (co)hosts for their hard work to make SAC possible - , , and for hosting this session - Everyone in SAC, past and present, for contributing in every way
