Use the up and down keys to move the broom up and down and move the mouse pointer to make it go left to right. the dust will bounce up and down, and make sure it does not go into the line. every time it bounces off the broom, you get a point, which you should aim for.
If dust cloud still on the red line when game stops, press space before clicking the green flag. This is also a neat cheat for cheaters.
