Rein almost yelped as the tree he was leaning against turned into a dryad. He turned around, and said, "Hey, I was comfortable!" The dryad looked at him and retorted, "So, I wasn't!" She shuddered when she realized who he was. "The son of Thanatos?" He nodded with a smirk. She glarred at him, and said, "You could've k!ll3d me!" "If I wanted to, but I didn't," Rein said with a smirk. He turned around, and started to walk away. But something the dryad had done made him stop. He turned back to the dryad, but she was gone. In her place stood his father, who had a harsh look on his face. Thanatos walked up to his son, and slapped him across the face. Rein, even though he was shocked, didn't react poorly. He just said, "What do you want, Father?" He frowned, and crossed his arms over his chest. "You disappeared with Deimos, the god of fear, and didn't think to tell me when you got back!" His father yelled in Rein's face. Rein laughed, and said, "You actually think I would tell you, of all people, when I was back?" He pushed his father away, and walked off further into the woods. Somehow, he felt his father behind him, and ran further into the woods. He stopped when he saw a scorpion near where the Battle of the Labyrinth happened, and sighed. He even noticed that his father had disappeared, leaving him to battle the scorpion single handed. He looked at it, and sighed. He took out one of his k/\/i\/es, and looked at it more closely. *How am I supposed to k!|| this thing, and come out alive?* Rein asked himself. He studied it carefully when he realized it wasn't going to make a thr@tenign move. He ticked his head to the side, and laughed. "So much for being a dangerous area!" He said coldly. Rein turned to walk away when he heard a female voice. "Meleager Thomas, you have made a mistake!" He recognized it as the voice of Artemis, Goddess of the H|_|nt. He turned around, and sighed. "What is it with the gods calling me by my middle name?" He asked with a hint of annoyance. The goddess smirked, but didn't respond. "For the millionth time, my name is Rein!" "Didn't my uncle tell you?" Lady Artemis asked after a moment. It seemed as if she was giving Rein an opportunity to calm down. "You are related to Meleager." He nodded, waiting for the goddess to tell him why the gods preferred to call him Meleager. "And as to why we call you Meleager. . .it's just something that my twin started. I guess he thought that you looked a little like Meleager, and have the same personality." "So Apollo knew Meleager?" The goddess nodded, not bothering to answer beyond that. Rein sighed, and said, "Can I go? Or do you have some task to me?" "I am here to ask why you alias yourself with Chaos, along with James Sorani, Aliza Drowy, and Deimos," The goddess said. She spoke calmly, as if this was no problem, and this was a calm manner. "And to take the reason back to the Council of the Gods." Rein rolled his eyes, and said, "How could you possibly know that's true?" But in the inside, he was very nervous. The now immortal demigod didn't understand how she could've found out about what he was supposed to do for Chaos. "Because Deimos confirmed it when I cornered him," Artemis said with a smirk. She walked up to him, and he backed up into the stone from Zeus's fist. "I want confirmation from you." He tried not to sweat as he said, "I'm not confirming anything." He knew that if he was sweating, it would be a d3 give away to the fact that he was lying. Artemis watched him, looking his in the eye. "Why won't you just help me? It'll make your immortal life easier, Meleager," she said after a minute. Rein forced a laugh, and said, "Tell me again why you are so eager to get into your father's good graces?" He raised an eyebrow, not expecting an answer, but he was surprised. "Because I got in trouble because of some of my h|_|nters. And he has punished me," Artemis spoke. "I never meant it to happen." "And your punishment?" He asked with a smirk. "I can't speak with my h|_|nters until the winter solstice," she said with distaste. "And I want to be able to speak with my sisters again." Rein pushed her away, and growled, "So I'm just your ticket back in?" He started to walk away from her when he thought of something. "Why are you coming after me? And not someone else?" Artemis looked at him, and said, "Because you are already working for the gods because of a wrong." Rein finished the rest. "So why not add more trouble to my load?" "That's not what I meant to do," Artemis protested crossing her arms over her chest. Usually, she appeared as a twelve year old girl with auburn hair, but today, she looked like she was seventeen, and her hair was brown and curly. Her eyes were blue, and intense, and they were starring him down. "I only meant to help the gods stop chaos." After a minute, she realized what Rein meant. "Well, I guess I would be throwing you under the bus by telling the other gods," she mumbled.
He laughed and said, "You think? Now, I'm not trying to be rude, Lady Artemis, but you gods really are dense sometimes." He turned around, and started to walk away from the goddess of the h|_|nt. "Don't you dare walk away from me, Rein Meleager Thomas!" Artemis yelled from behind him. Rein assumed that she was running after him, so he turned around, and waited for her to catch up. When she did, he smiled, and moved to shadow-travele to his cabin. But before he made his move, he looked her in the eye, and said, "Just because you're a h|_|nter doesn't mean you always catch your prey." He smirked, then shadow-teleported to his cabin, just as he planned. He was happy with himself. The goddess of the h|_|nt didn't catch him, though she was close. And now, it would take her ages to find him. Just perfect.
