-------------------- ⁀➷ Icy - Update 1 -------------------- Today was my first day with my new colt Icy! I won Icy at a Lost River Stables auction, and managed to get him somewhat settled into his new stall and paddock. At first, I let Icy settle down and take a look at his new environments for a few hours, before going out to see him. At first, I made my way over to Icy, but as soon as I got too close, he bolted, jumping over a log on the way. Rosa, Icy's past owner, warned me he liked to jump, however I was still shocked to see him clear a log (albeit is was small) with ease. I can understand why Icy was not acting as usual - a complete new environment, owner, etc. - but I managed to catch up to Icy and get a halter on him, and I led him out the paddock and into the indoor arena - on the way he was pulling at the lead quite a bit, but by the time we got there, he had settled down - where I let him get used to the place where I'll be training him quite often. He had a canter around - with the doors closed, of course - before I caught him with a little more ease this time and took him back to the paddock. I sat on one of the pine logs in the paddock and watched Icy for a while, before he started to approach me. I was pleasantly surprised when he came right up to me and nuzzled my hand. A good days progress, Icy is finally getting settled in and more comfortable with the environment and the people in his new home. --------------------
