[The Woodcarver's Curse] 9 It had been about two months since Mother's injury on September, now it was nearly winter. The cold season reflects a villain's wicked heart. I tried to forget the bizarre thing about Uranus on October Halloween, but the memory keeps coming back like how a ball reacts if you bounce it off a wall. Uranus hadn't come back in a while and I was relieved. I didn't want a creepy cat poking around at everything I do! Besides, when it comes to work, I really need my privacy. At school that day, Mother was back in school to teach us. I was really glad since I liked how she taught us. At recess, I hanged out with Eden, Audrey, Elaine, and Rachel as usual. “I’m glad that Miss Ng is back in school now,” Rachel said. “So am I!” Audrey agreed. “I’m also glad that nothing creepy has happened lately,” I said. “Has that cat come back recently?” Eden asked me. I knew she was talking about Uranus, and the others know as well since I have told them already. Later in English class, we had an English quiz. I had finished my paper early and stared at the blackboard. All of a sudden, the chalk fell without anyone touching it. That scared the whole class. At home, I told Eden that I thought I made the chalk fell. She told me to prove it. I stared at a book and it fell. “It’s just like the book ‘Matilda’ written by Roald Dahl!” Eden exclaimed. “Let’s see if I could do that, too!” Surprisingly, Eden succeeded, like me. “Wow! We’re wizards!” she exclaimed. When Mother came home, we told her all about it. We even proved it to her! That day seems brighter than the days before!
The first happy story in the series! Horray!
