⚠︎ THE INTERROGATION. R1 S1 I waken in my cell to the slow, soft melody of shackles clanking together. Interrogation day is finally here. I've been dreading it, but it gives me a chance to experience the WARDEN, in all her greatness, if even for a moment. I hear the sound of my name escape the guards mouth, my cell creaking open slowly. ah, my name. Vegas. Such a funny name, one would think. It wasn't always my name, you see. Just because we're criminals doesn't mean we don't do good. Doesn't mean we don't live lives the same, have families, childhood memories. Although we are treated like so. the room is bright white, empty except for me, a chair, a tortoiseshell she-cat, and my good ol' conscience(hang in there, dude!) ah, this is the infamous WARDEN. I smile with all my teeth. "Do you know why your here? Why you got arrested?" I don't even need time to think of a response, I'd already suspected such a question. "Wouldn't you like to know? I'm not daft, nor dumb, as everyone knows. I don't get caught. But ah... perhaps there was a flaw this time around?" I know I never get caught. Cover up my tracks. I never got caught anyway- wait, why am I telling YOU, of all people? It's not like my secrets can be trusted with you. "Do you regret what you did?" "Why this question, of all? Are you trying to make me better than I was before? Everyone here regrets something, the only difference is, are they willing to share what their regret is? i can tell you this, I have regrets, but certainly not this. It was for HER own good. She needs me." Didn't see that coming, did ya? Everyone has someone they love, obviously. I'm not heartless. "Did you do the right thing?" "God, these questions are vague. Nothing with a little more spice? Thats a yes or no question. If you're wanting to get under my skin, start asking the right questions, my friend. This one has an answer, although. Not the right thing for me, but for.." I cut off with a shrug. " Who did you hurt?" "That's an easy one. My reputation. How could I, the riskiest gamble of them all, Vegas, end up in jail? My reputation, alas, will die with me in this prison." " Do you believe you are GUILTY or INNOCENT?" "That's not up to me to decide. In some eyes, I'm guilty. A street rat. In others, innocent. Heavenly as an angel, innocent as a child...." "Why did you choose a life of crime?" "It chose me, easily said enough. Crime isn't something you can choose. Those who do it, for a good cause. I'm not flat out cold hearted- I'm not a murderer, not necessarily, at least... I just do what needs to be done." my eye flicks to the WARDEN, holding her gaze. the surface, shes a rock- I've always hated the things. Hard to break, but useful weapons - boring, but intriguing. but every rock sediments. Crumbles away. It's only so soon before she erodes away. I close my eye, then open it once more. "I do hope we can have another chat sometime. Over tea, perhaps?" ⚠︎ - - - ⚠︎ - - -
Ignore the thumb... Confused? Good. That's the point.
