Drip. ㅤDrip. ㅤㅤDrip. Orphic could hear the water dripping, though she wasn't sure where. What was with this ominous b̶e̶l̶l̶ t̶o̶l̶l̶i̶n̶g̶ water dripping? Did it symbolize something? Now that she thought about it, she'd seen a few people get taken by the guards to... who knows where. Thump. ㅤThump. ㅤㅤThump. Orphic jumped back, her heart beating faster than ever. Were they... coming for her? The other prisoners, to beat her up? She didn't care about them. It just reminded her of when she was younger-no point in think of that! Clang! ㅤClang! ㅤㅤClang! The guards shuffled with her lock, then forcefully dragged Orphic outside. What were they going to do? SLAM! INTERROGATOR - "1. Do you know why you were arrested?" ORPHIC - "...Yes." They were counting the questions? Maybe they wanted to get over with this uh... interrogation. Yeah, that was it. She wasn't dumb like the others. You answer what they want to hear, not what you actually think. INTERROGATOR - "2. Do you regret what you did?" ORPHIC - "I mean, yes? I regret not being honest about being innocent, but i didn't do anything wrong." Trick question. If you say yes, you're owning up to committing a crime. If you say no, you're saying that you're glad you committed the crime. Her answer was a safe one. Hopefully. INTERROGATOR - "3. Did you do the right thing?" ORPHIC - "I mean, no. I should've been honestly in the trial, but i accusers were so... intimidating." Another trick questions. Hopefully her response came out right. Giving away small bits of false info made her seem weak and innocent, and her quiet voice and shy demeanor blended perfectly. When you tell small lies like that, they can't tell because the truth is subjective on who tells and sees it. These small lies... they would paint a picture in their minds that she never outright said. INTERROGATOR - "4. Who did you hurt?" ORPHIC - "Uh, no one?" Perfect. Act confused by the question, almost as if to implicitly say, "Why would you even ask that, there's no way I'd do such a thing!" Plus, it wasn't really related to her crime. She didn't hurt anyone, at least not physically. INTERROGATOR - "5. Do you believe you are GUILTY or INNOCENT?" ORPHIC - "Innocent!" Play it like a child, unaware of the cost of their actions. Sure, she was old enough to go to prison, but legally she was still a child, and she needed to take advantage of that.
