Phosgene blinked sleepily, woken by the ear-piercing screech of the rusted cell door slowly opening. A group of guards towered in front of her, blocking out the barred artificial light into cat shaped silhouettes. One guard stepped forward, roughly handcuffing her paws together tightly. Phosgene's expression remained as blank and unreadable as usual, albeit a bit more sleepy. The tired looking Guards escorted her through winding halls of cells, for what felt like an eternity. Eventually, the Guards pushed her into a cramped, windowless room, handcuffing her to a seat. In the room, only a small flickering light hung on the ceiling. In the shadows, a tall figure loomed in front of Phosgene. As she blinked, eyes adjusting to the darker room, she realized this was the warden. Momentarily, her dull ruby eyes flashed a look of surprise before returning back to her normal composure. Echoing through the silence, the Warden's commanding voice rang through " Do you know why you were arrested?" Phosgene took a moment to process the question, "Yes, I believe it was 10 counts of manslaughter, 24 counts of first degree m*rd3r, and 5 abductions" Her voice sounded tired, not exactly proud, but a bit grim. "I worked as a personal assassin for the organization that raised me, if you were wondering". Her voice remained steady, calm and monotone. "Do YOU regret what you did?" The Warden's voice revealed no hint of her own emotion, just clear and powerful. "I don't believe what I did would have any affect on the outcome of these people's lives, in a way, they would have met there end sooner with the vendetta these cats had to my superiors". She spoke these words confidently, due to her entire childhood of indoctrination. "It doesn't matter what happens to me, I am merely a bloodhound in the long run". "Did you do the right thing?" Phosgene gave a slight shoulder shrug, causing the rusty handcuffs bounding her to her chair to make a small rattling sound against the damaged wood chair. "Whatever is my leaders tell me to do, it doesn't matter if it is right or wrong, as one of their many bloodhounds, i will follow orders without question". "Who did you hurt?" Phosgene finally showed a emotional reaction, her eyes glazed over for a moment as she remembered. The nights spent sneaking out with a dear friend. The warm blood, stained on her claws, stained on sandy fur. Green eyes turning glassy. Cold, Cold loneliness, the isolation from this world once more. Phosgene looked shocked, appearing to remember a repressed trauma. Just as how sudden her true emotions appeared, it disappeared just as fast. Her eyes focused once more, calm, blank expression glued to her face once more. The Warden's piercing gaze locked onto Phosgene, judging her reaction. Finally, after a beat of silence, "Everyone I was told to hurt". Her voice was steady, serene even. Whether this was a facade or her indoctrination kicking in was unclear. Finally, the Warden said her final question, "Do you believe you are Guilty or Innocent?" "Guilty, I don't care what happens to me, my moment to be useful was wasted when I held my organization back because of my emotions. I deserve to be executed". Her voice was monotone, yet one could almost feel the emotional pain hidden behind her cracking mask of apathy.
