Serial number: DARE0254. Modernized by Kone in 2009. Type: Roped hydraulic single ram with MR at floor 0. Fixtures: Dewhurst square metal buttons + Lester TC3 inside indicator (Car fixtures replaced with white Kone KSS 570 during the 2009 mod). Speed: 0.4 m/s (Increased to 1 m/s during the mod). Capacity: 1000 kg or 13 persons. Doors: Selcom Hydra 3201 (Replaced with Fermator during the mod). Logic: Lester Controls (Replaced with Kone LCE during the mod). Voice: Lester Controls (Replaced with the Spanish and English Kone voice in 2009). Floors: 8 (0 to 7). Motor: Generic Leistritz-style submersible pump with Blain EV 100 valve (Replaced with a Bucher Hydraulics submersible pump with LRV-1 valve). Starter type: Star-delta (Now solid state). Cab color: Light grey (Now orange). Location: 306 Allington Avenue, El Garcia, ST. This is the lift at a block of flats from 2002. It used to be a really trash generic Dale and Reynolds hydraulic but it got modernized in 2009 by Kone (After just 7 years of service)! Why did the mod happen so early? Well, this lift was supposed to be a 1 m/s hydraulic but it only went 0.4 because some jerk cut corners and put a very under powered Leistritz-style pump unit. It also came with an horrible Lester Controls controller which takes way too long to charge and level, which led to bad overheating issues during going up and insane inefficiency! The cab was a dull grey cab! And finally, the door operator was a terrible Selcom one which made horrible noises and kept jamming all the time! This lift hasn't held up well due to reliabilty issues and it was too slow! The lift structure is fine despite being a side chassis hydro and it was designed to go 1 m/s... So, in 2009, this lift has been modernized by Kone. They replaced the inside fixtures with some nice KSS 570, added a generic button beep on the exterior call buttons, replaced the hydraulic pump unit with a new Bucher one which sounds awesome and is fast! Unlike the previous pump which was a piece of asbolute trash (The sound was meh and it was SOO underpowered)! The Lester Controls logic has also been replaced with Kone LCE and it's better than ever! The lift runs very efficiently and has pre-doors! And also, the horrendous Selcom doors have been fully replaced (Both landing & car doors replaced) with some new Fermator ones and these are very fast and work quite well despite being rickety! I don't know why they picked Fermator instead of Kone (Wittur) AMD stuff though... The cab has also been repainted in orange during that mod and it looks so much better than the original grey cab! And also, it has a bilingual Spanish-English Kone voice which is ULTRA RARE! SO AWESOME! And just listen to the nice posh KSS inside button press sound! To sum up, this lift used to be total garbage, but Kone turned it into an EPIC lift by modding it in 2009! Also, this place still has it's original HVAC system from 2002 which is a Mitsubishi one and it's very nice. And finally, it still has an original Simplex 4100U voice evac fire alarm system with TrueAlert speaker strobes and remote strobes. There are no PAVA speakers and no horn strobes. The system has been updated in May 2012 with the addition of some PyroStop low-frequency sounders in order to comply with the new regulations. But other than that, this system is still fully original and healthy according to the last inspection which occured on August 17th of 2025. Simplex is still servicing that system after 23 years.
