Amsonia , District 9 - Amsonia had never looked particularly good in winter clothing. What she had back home was practical and that's it, but she couldn't imagine she would look particularly nice in fancier winter clothing either. She was so skinny that large fluffy clothing would swallow her up whole, but her frame was too harsh and muscular for the large clothes to make her look delicate at all. This is what she was thinking about as her stylists stared at her and sorted through all their various ideas on what she should wear. They'd been working on many ideas over the days since she had been reaped but they were taking their time choosing one. They too had a difficult time deciding what box they could fit her in to. She was just a little too muscular to be portrayed as sweet and gentle and a little too frail to be portrayed as intimidating. Trying not to let her mind wander too far, she picked at the fabric of the chair she was sitting in, waiting for her stylists to be done complaining about her. Sonia had never thought her stylists not being able to figure out what she should wear would be an issue, but apparently she was too "boring" for them to settle on any one outfit. Ultimately they decided that covering her in glitter and outlandish accessories would be enough to get people to stare and her and even possibly remember that she exists. She didn't complain throughout the process, even if they had no care for how hard they were pulling on her knotted fur or how violently they were applying make up to her face. In the end she looked absolutely nothing like herself. She was wearing a sparkling pale blue dress that hurt her eyes if she stared at it for too long. It was the same color as snow on a clear morning and shone just as brightly. Unfortunately the dress was only the first layer. Amsonia already felt suffocated just standing there. She couldn't imagine how it'd feel to wear all of these clothes while walking around on a parade float and waving. Over of the dress she wore a huge, fluffy cloak, similar to what she'd heard many of the other tributes would be wearing. Her's was a deep turquoise color with lighter patterns of snowflakes and swirls across it and bright white fur on the rim of the hood and the rest of the interior. Not only what she wearing a huge cloak, she was also donning many wreaths of pine needles and icicles around her neck, garlands of pine and fairy lights dangling from all sides of her cloak and wrapped around her tail, and a crown made of actual ice on top her head. Her skull was freezing, the rest of her body was overheating, and every muscle in her body felt on the verge of collasping under the weight of all these clothes. Staring in the mirror she looked more like a pile of holiday decorations with a cat suffocating underneath them than an actual cat wearing clothes. Her stylists were pleased with the result. Soon she was being pushed out of the room where she had been styled and out into the area where they were keeping the tributes' mode of transportation this year. Even the horses and sleighs the tributes were getting into were less decorated than she was, though it was a close enough competition to bring her some comfort. Maybe The Capitol enjoyed this sort of thing. As soon as she was finished getting into the sleigh it started moving. She almost toppled over as the sleigh began to move and it was a miracle she managed to stable herself because if she had fallen over she surely wouldn't have been able to get up for the entire rest of the parade. As the sleigh moved out into the plaza she immediately worried about the crown of ice perched atop her head. Though she couldn't look up and see the lights directly, her head movements heavily restricted, she could tell from the light that reflected off the ground they these were likely the sort of lights would melt ice. Even if she couldn't feel the warmth from the lights within her layers of clothing she assumed it was there. All she could hope was that her stylists had heat-proofed the crown somehow, or at the very least it wouldn't melt too much before the end of the parade. Waddling to one side of the sleigh, she stared out at what surrounded her. It was beautiful and any other time the festive decorations along with the smiling faces of the cats around her would've brought her joy, but now she could only really think about how they were the prequel to her eventually elimination. Hopefully some of the children had no idea what they were here for. It was much nicer to think that some of the cats here just thought this was a holiday parade and were completely unaware of what it truly was. That brought some peace to her mind. cont. below
"Hi everyone!" she shouted out into the crowd. Back home all her neighbors absolutely loved her and she had a way of charming a crowd, but back in her tiny hown town on the outskirts of District 9 just 50 cats was considered a large crowd. Not more than 100 cats could've lived in the same village as she did. Only at the reaping had she ever seen this many cats gathered at once. So Amsonia, despite how good she thought she was at making friends, was extremely out of her element. "Hi everyone!" she shouted again, "Happy holidays and happy hunger games!" "I love your outfit!" she said to someone in the crowd, "I love the tassels! Happy Hunger Games!" Sonia continued pointing out the outfits of the crowd members and complimenting them, than wishing everyone either a happy holidays or happy Hunger Games. It wasn't particularly interesting but she was hoping that how genuine she sounded and the gentle smile on her face was enough to win over some of the kinder souls. She wouldn't get a single sponsor from someone looking for someone unique or fierce, but she'd hoped she'd charmed some of the people with a little good in their hearts. Amsonia moved to the other side of the sleigh and did the same thing. "I'm Amsonia from District 9 and I hope you all have a fantastic winter season!" Soon the parade was over and fortunately her crown hadn't had much time to melt, and she could finally take off the piles of clothing she was wearing. She didn't feel particularly accomplished, but at least she had made it out to the parade. --- i definitely wanted to write smth a little more interesting but ive been incredibly busy so this is the best that ive got. hopefully i'll have more time for the gamemakers or interviews !!
