ramblings below ⚠️ i got a little bit carried away while designing and ended up with a bunch of random doodles while brainstorming. so you get a couple extra sketches! probably to compensate for the fact that this was a little rushed despite being a week before the deadline. i didn't think i was going to have a lot of time to work on it next week so i wanted to finish it this weekend to be safe. i mainly based this design off a leopard gecko (i <3 uncommon species), but took elements from seals (tail + flippers), leafy sea dragons (tail fins + whiskers), and also just. dragons in general (horns). also anglerfish (lure). the eyes in particular were inspired by mushroom from objectified. i <3 made up nonsense too i just wanted to draw a mermaid lizard at first, as you can sort of see in my first design draft, but it inexplicably ended up evolving into some sort of deep sea predator. the idea was that it uses the shiny gemstone (jade) lure on its head to hunt animals and people, and the leaf/kelplike bits help camouflage it (shown in figures at bottom right)? i mean ok if i saw a shiny rock on the beach i would fall for this. i have the heart of a magpie. anyways i think thats all i have to say #havefun with my design. go my fella be free
