Chapter Three Raven: I sat down on a chair on the porch. I watched the sun set and sighed and I stood up. It was time to go. I walked to the woods (without any shoes on) as it grew darker and darker. The shoes I did own, my mother gave me when I was younger. I had said they were too big and she had told me it's for when I'm older. When I'm 16 about to be 17. I sighed and I knew I should wear them for her but, the shoes reminded me of my mother too much. I brushed my fingers on the trees as I walked deeper into the woods. I could hardly see. I heard the cries of crows and ravens above me. Some perched in trees others flew by. One stared down at me. It was a Raven. I remember my father telling me why he decided to name me Raven. It was my mother's idea. Everytime he told me, it made me cry. I missed my mom even if I hardly knew her before she d!*d. I sighed and tried not to think about it. I focused on the sound of crows and ravens. I felt leaves crunch under my feet and rocks st@b my toes. I didn't care. I was so used to walking through these woods without shoes on. I was even used to climbing up the trees and screaming. I would stop to hear the ravens and crows cry and the wolves howl. Or I'd just sit in them and read a book. One time, a Raven even landed on my arm. I had gasped and thought it was a miracle. I jumped out of the tree that day and ran home to tell my dad. That was when I was ten. I sighed at the memories. I wished I came here more often. I came here before my dad left but haven't been here since. I love coming here, though. It's one of the only places I can get peace. I hide in the shadows when I hear other kids or people. I usually come here at night when no one is here. But, tonight, someone was. I stopped when I saw a shadow in front of me. I gasped softly. I squinted but it didn't help. I didn't know if I should speak. I didn't know how to act around this person. All I knew was this was who I was supposed to meet here, in the woods.
