Chapter Five: Raven: "This is your secret spot?" I asked. "I come here quite often." I sighed and looked around. My feet crunched a few more leaves. "I prefer not to have shoes on for...personal reasons you don't need to know." I try to smile at this stranger but it's harder and it weirdly hurts. I started to climb the tree next to us. I sit down in the fork of the tree that branches out branches. There is a Raven on a branch next to me. It stares at me. I stare back. I can hardly see it but I know it's there. Just like I know there is a person below me I was supposed to meet tonight who didn't understand why I didn't wear shoes. I hear crows and ravens nearby. Even at night, When I can hardly see anything, nature is so peaceful. "My name is Raven." I said. "And yours...you said yours was Chase? Nice name." I tried to smile again. I kicked my feet. "I wonder why you and me are here, meeting each other. I mean, we both do come here...and we never met up here by accident somehow!" I laughed softly, quietly. "It's strange, isn't it?" The raven cawed next to me and landed on my arm. I gasped softly so I wouldn't scare it. "Isn't that cool?" I asked Chase. "My name is Raven and a Raven landed on me! That's the second time!" This time, I actually meant to smile. And, I smiled.
