“It was my 102nd deployment with the 9th Armored Cavalry Regiment, but it my first in the Caucuses since the Azovian Civil War. We did not expect much as much resistance from the Umas and thought this war would be like the Azovian Civil War. Unfortunately, it went quite the opposite way… We were crossing the border into Uma territory with I think around 15 M1A2 Forrest Tanks and 18 Gordon IFVs. It went smooth until we were about 52 miles past the border, thats where it became hell. A heavy sandstorm rolled in and moments later were ambushed by about 39 Uma tanks. The driver of my tank whose name was Peter tried to get out of the way to a further away location so we could get the hell out of there, but by then we were surrounded and had to fight in close combat. It was a hard fought battle, and the Uma tanks were surprisingly formidable. I remember that near the ending of the battle, our tank came face-to-face with an MCV-125/1 and I could see the Uma commander’s expression of utter horror as she looked atop her hatch. I fired my round before she could order her crew to fire at us. The turret of her MCV-125 came off and was flipping like a bottle cap in the air, and when it landed the whole thing burst into flames. I remember thinking; ‘Holy… How can a piece of metal burn like that?’. We won the battle at a hard won decisive victory compared to the Uma’s staggering defeat, however I still think to myself of that commander I saw. Did I do what was right? Should I have spared her? What if she had a family? These thoughts all came running to my head after the battle, but I did what I had to do. If I had done nothing, she surely would have killed me and my crew the second she saw an opportunity. In result, we killed nearly all of the Uma tanks and vehicles while suffering 2 mildly damaged Gordon IFVs and 1 slightly damaged Forrest. Thankfully no casualties on our side were reported, but my question is what happens now? The Umas just faced their deadliest war yet, and have to rebuild everything from scratch. War is hell, and it always will be…” - 2nd Lieutenant Harold Curtin (Gunner of an M1A2 Sepv3 Forrest Tank)
The Uman Civil War so far has been one of the bloodiest recent wars for the UC. While not a true defeat, it was considered a humiliation to the Corsairian Army due to it having failed in the objective to defeat the NUO. While the civilians don’t feel anger/spite against the soldiers, the troops themselves are just disappointed in their failure to win the war. Corsairian troops however don’t stay demoralized for long as there is still conflict to defend the UC territories from Frankea who is considered a warmonger and the assistant of a warcriminal by the UC public. In the meantime while troops move to other UC territories to defend and push back Frankea, the UC also pays the NUO to help repair buildings and for all the damage that the UC caused. The estimated damage inflicted is near 109 Billion USD just for what the UC caused… Who knows what the true amount is for the entire region.
