3/2416 Domestic Section ------------------------------------------------------------------------- General Update + Handling of Plagues As you are likely aware by now, the Katabasis has broken loose, and with preparations already having been made prior for this situation, the NASM has their own policies currently stabilized thanks to the voluntary patronage of Lord Hubbard. The same cannot be said, however, for our unsuspecting neighbors. More regarding them later. Regardless, the NASM themselves have begun working via research stations all over the United Societies, from labs in Ni’ihau to Winter Park, to create vaccines to deal with the less anomalous of the plagues and bacterium, though casualties have been reported in more susceptible populations and the less cybernetically enhanced populations near Anarchobama. Beyond this, the NASM has seen a small uptick in Mormon migration from Deseret due to some who are unsatisfied with the more “secular” direction that recent governance has taken. Most have settled either in Duostrip or Nilla due to proximity. Networks are also being expanded slowly. Industrial Development and Slight Uptick in Enlistment The NASM has seen no reason to cease industrializing and given recent needs that demand a stronger and more resourceful United Societies, Lord Hubbard has resolved voluntarily with the populace to continue developing the nation to support both a growing population and growing need for resources as distribution networks get more advanced and stretched-out. Development hubs of note are New Clearwater (the largest city as of recent), Nilla, Holo Moku (newly constructed city in Ni’ihau), Miami, Science City (Hanoi), and Winterpark. They will see an increase in working opportunities for volunteers, increased economic opportunity, and a growth in the fostering of desperately needed communities outside of the bustling urban hearts so well known to the NASM. China War/Treatment of Locals The Chinese War is becoming increasingly rough to move forward through, but the continued blunders and haste of the Chinese military leadership have proven enough to give NASM liberators the fight they need to continue onwards. Looking into liberated territory, it is already known that schools, development, and distribution networks are being created and enabled by Lord Hubbard and the peacekeeping forces of the NASM. Locals are treated well and given the right to travel as they please and given access to the resources the NASM can spare at hand to keep them well managed. Utopian as our society may be, not all are keen to our societies, so we must give them a true taste of paradise so that they will not rise up in arms against us, harsh as that may sound. Luckily, most of these people have entered fruitless attempts at guerilla warfare or fled back to China, so issues of civil uprising and trouble in occupation have largely subsided. (the music is in the project) Foreign Section ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mutual Co-op With Other Nations Regarding Katabasis In reference to our furthering of cooperation with other nations regarding the immediate issues regarding the Katabasis, things are going well. The Caribbean has given NASM volunteer researchers access to major remnants of Kalmaktama’s corpse in Montgomery, allowing research into the anomalous properties of the creatures it spawned and the Katabasis to be furthered. Research into entities like this, as well as those seen in Shedim, is rapidly increasing in urgency. We have also opened our borders to military support from the Caribbean and other nations for the EXPRESSED purpose of defending against the more violent species seeping out of the Katabasis. Cooperation is also being conducted on the front of vaccines and dealing with pathogens, with the NASM setting up temporary and less advanced distribution networks for vaccines and resources all over affected areas, but most pressingly in New Chicago, the north of the USA, and the South of the Inuit Protectorate. Religious artifacts are also actively being used to cure those affected by the anomalous, and prayers are being made to Hubbard’s spirit to cleanse those who are affected. This is being done by church members, SEE ORG, etc. Although Scientologist objects and prayer have proven effective, more traditional systems like prayers, holy water, etc. have also proven effective against those ailed by anomalous agents. Antarctica Relations Relations with Antarctica have been improving steadily. The NASM has also begun building a few ports at the entrance of and around the entrance of the Victorian Sea. This is for the purposes of monitoring marine life, growth of greenery in the area, effects on the climate, and for defense of the sea. Beyond this, several economic plans and resource funnels have been discussed between Antarctica and the NASM, creating steady streams from which the NASM will be able to buy resources for expanding their distribution networks, building chips, and expanding their cities to continue industrializing and urbanizing. All of this is being done to mutual benefit, to sustain the population of Antarctica and support the growth of the population of the NASM. Growing Alignment with Muslim World/Religion in Asia With our growth in friendship amongst the Muslim world thanks to our alliance with Mesopotamia/Arabia and Azad Pakistan, as well as fortuitously frequently placed missives in Persia, we have gained favor with the Muslim people, and there has been an uptick in Muslim Scientologists popping up over the world, especially in the former United Emirates. Similarly, missionaries have come to preach the word of reaching enlightenment through the elimination of engrams and such across Tibet and Asia, spreading Buddhist Scientology Syncretism beyond just Jundui and into occupied Burma, inside Nepal and India, and a large minority in Tibet which is growing by the day. As we inch ever closer to the liberation of the colonies of China, our favor with local Muslims and Buddhists will continue to grow as word of our charity and liberation spreads. The good word spreads, and open borders means people can see these things for themselves. Signing off; godspeed and hailrh. Finally, a note about the economy: We are a cashless society, and instead function on the principle of "Hubbards". One may earn Hubbards by contributing to society, and these Hubbards are awarded both by other people, Hubbard subsections, and Hubbard himself. They function in a similar MANNER to currency, but due to the generally voluntary nature of work in a post-scarcity society, they can only be used in certain ways. Since all basics are covered, most of the societies Hubbards are spent on luxuries and other such amenities, but regardless, people are still equal. People are not coerced into any unwanted hierarchies, are free to leave and move as they see fit, etc. Overall, the ultimate conclusion to draw from this is that there is no scarcity, and people can do largely as they please, working only when they feel like working. This society is supported by a culture of voluntary obedience to LRH. Hailrh. (A final note: Hubbards can be traded, are redistributed beyond a certain count whenever the "owner" passes, are not lost, and are backed largely by material resources and talent provided by a society. If the talent that was represented by a person's Hubbards cannot be supplemented by the societies overall production after their death, however, those Hubbards will likely disappear as they are no longer supported by talent, though raw materials can be used in place of talent and contributions.)
