ETHER XVII: A strange and enigmatic entity conjured due to a malfunctioning warp prototype. They, and all their fellow fairies, appear to have been pulled from a thought-to-be-defunct simulation and incarnated into pseudo-organic shells. Ether is for the most part quiet and reserved, they want for little and ask for significantly less. They don't seem to enjoy giving speeches. When stressed or enraged, they enter a strange sort of madness, spouting utter nonsense and acting in a most erratic manner. This is a trait observed in most fairies. Ether and their court still suffer quite a bad case of shock from exposure to this universe. Since the simulation the fairies originate from was quite small, they don't quite grasp the actual size of the galaxy, and don't understand quite a lot of what's going on. They've chosen to simply accept things and not question much, doubling down on their whimsical nature to avoid confronting their own confusion. Despite this, it has been observed that every fairy seems to be going through it's own existential crisis, and they adapt rather poorly to their new lives and homes. The fairies themselves are a strange group. Aside from their monarch, none of them take a complex or recognizable shape and instead remain as featureless black spheres of varying size most of the time. There are only a few hundred of them, but they have proven incredibly hard to kill due to constant regeneration of their shifting internal structures. They don't appear to need conventional food, instead they appear capable of eating essentially anything, or simply photosynthesizing in orbit around a star. Fairies do require water, especially when they become active, in order to hydrate their cells and keep themselves from overheating. They cannot sleep and do not breathe. They are capable of surviving extreme cold and are able to persist within a vacuum. MERIDION-19 A mysterious figure, who has been serving as the advisor and guide-to-the-galaxy for Ether and their court ever since they arrived. Not much is known about her, save that she is highly knowledgeable and extremely hard to read. Her species is unknown, as is her world of origin and personal history. For unknown reasons she appears to have control over the entire Meridion solar system, which is completely devoid of life after the destruction of an entity of vast evil that called it home. Her presence unsettles people for an unknown reason, and plants tend to die if she spends too much time in close proximity. Fairies don't seem affected, for unknown reasons.
COOL NOTES: the concept of fairies as semi-digital pseudo-organic lifeforms is something I've held onto for a while, and this is certainly not the last place I'll be using it. Ether actually is just a black sphere but with a crown, they look like how they do because people seem to like having a face to talk to instead of a featureless void. Meridion-19's design is heavily inspired by the Flatwoods monster. I really actually like this specific design for fairies I'm totally going to use it again somewhere.
