The car started out as a red S model, with base spec 1.6 HI4NA petrol engine, back in 1999. In late 2016, the elderly owner gave up driving and the car was put away in a bush beside a barn. In 2019 I bought the car and started restoration work. New sills and arches were required, and a lot of the brake and fuel lines were perished. These were replaced with braided and copper lines where appropriate, and new suspension was added (modified to fit from a similar aged Bolero GT, with upgraded lowering springs.). From this point after a service the car was put on to the road. I used it to commute from early 2020 once welding work had been done up until June 2020 when I was put on furlough because of coronavirus. It then sat, being started up fortnightly, until April 2021 when the engine seized presumably from lack of use. At first I was going to replace with the a similar 1.6 unit, but there was a local Bolero HV6NA engine locally on FB marketplace I was able to purchase. Seeing as these engines were available on some Multiespacios, fitting it was very easy. a 6 speed manual gearbox unit was also fitted simultaniously from the same Bolero parts car. In July 2021, I was able to source a rotten mk4 Críquet GT 3 door - this gave me an idea. I already had the 210hp engine unit from a HOS GT spec car, so why not make it look like one?? Seeing as the body was already tatty in places since the welding, I decided to modify the Críquet GT bumpers, wing and sideskirts to fit. This took a lot of fibreglass filler and sanding but I managed it. It was all painted in an original HOS shade of Legion Green. Now I am about £10,000 into a car that I bought for £250. But I love how it looks. Wheels from a higher spec multiespacio have been added now too. I hope you like my Multiespacio, it is at a good stage now, but these sorts of cars are never really done are they! :-)
