This specific disease is genetic and only starts appearing between the ages of 10-30. An autoimmune disease is where the body accidentally mistakes healthy cells for bacteria and will kill off healthy cells by mistake. This specific autoimmune disease affects skin cells. When healthy skin cells are killed off, the skin will lose its pigmentation and turn white, resulting in patches of white skin. These patches of white skin are very vulnerable to sunburn and if developed in the ear or around the eyes, the person/being with vitiligo will possibly lose their hearing and vision.
