Here is my VERY late registered Mk2 Scoppio. This is a special model as it is surprisingly late registered, most Scoppios of which ending on a 53 plate. This 04 plate example started life being bought by a learner driving agency in the south of Wales, where it was left unregistered for 6 months due to the learner driving agency declaring bankrupcy. The car was taken back to the original dealer (being L.C. Jones Brandt in Newport) where it was officially registered. It was sold for £5400 eventually, having sat around the back of the dealer for a while (by this point the Pulcan (Scoppio replacement) had been out 3 years so dealers wanted to sell the newer car with larger profit margins and more modern sellable features.) It was then bought by the garage as it's first owner in 2005 and used as a company car for the first 2 years of its useful life. Racking up 12,000 miles by the time it was decomissioned in 2007 it was then sold to a family in Newport town who used it as a family vehicle (commuting, holidays, everything!) By 2018 this little Scoppio was looking a bit tired so was laid up in the garden when the MOT was failed for structural chassis corrosion (now known to be on the sills and strut tops.) I bought this car from the family just after lockdown in early 2021 for the sum of £50 through a mutual friend. It needed lots of work so I had it trailered back to my workshop where I set about cutting out the old rust and putting new galvanised steel in its place. I then painted at home with my paint gun into the original shade of green and reapplied the plastic trims. The only serious rust left is on the passenger side front wing but this isn't structural so I haven't got round to fixing it. Brandt stock these wings brand new so thatt might be an option down the line. The forums whose stickers are on the back window have been so helpful in restoring this rare piece of brandt history! It is a BPE90 1.6T engined ''GL Prestigio'' with optional smokers pack (only ever used for the 12v socket), Tonos CD Player and reproduction Sculleria springs. Just been given a years MOT so will be making the most of it while summer lasts, then it'll go into the garage for the winter for recomissioning work including new wings and full undersealing.
