Alt text if the project doesn’t work: ABOUT ME: Hey there! I’m Ess, and my pronouns are she/her. I’m a 12 year old Chinese canadian girl with a long lasting love for the arts. I love writing for the same reasons an artist spends hours upon hours on a piece, for the same reasons a reader smiles when they open a book for the first time. I write to both escape and escape and embrace the many emotions that come with living. When I’m not writing, you can find me deep in a good book, engulfed in a new tv show, or discovering new indie musicians. EXPERIENCE: Though I have never participated in SWC before, I have participated in many writing camps irl. In terms of leadership, I do volunteer work sometimes, and I have a sister to raise if that counts for anything:) CABIN PREFERENCE: To be honest, I don’t really have a preference for which cabin I lead. I also don’t mind leading TCTWNW. WRITING EXERPT: Getting Owen and Kitty together was, thankfully, way easier than Noah thought. The moment he started paying attention to the two of them, it was painfully obvious how they felt about each other. Noah could see how they looked at each other during math class, the way their faces turned bright red after their hands “accidentally” touched during art class. “Why don’t you make a move on her? It’s so obvious that she like you,” Noah told Owen during lunch. “I don’t know about that, little buddy, what if you’re wrong? No offence, but you aren’t exactly the best at this kind of thing.” “Owen, a blind person would be able to see how much she likes you.” “But that’s not how it-“ “Not the point,” said Noah through gritted teeth. As much as he liked Owen, he couldn’t deny how much his idiocy could get on his nerves sometimes. “Ok fine I’ll ask her out, but if you’re wrong…” Noah walked away, satisfied with his work as the bell rang for the next period. SKILLS AND SHORTCOMINGS: In terms of skills, I am a very inclusive and organized leader, and I am always supportive of the needs of others. As for shortcomings, I have trouble dealing with conflict and problems that come up at times, since I always prioritize trying to make everyone happy. ACTIVITY LEVEL: From November 11th to the 18th I will be seeing family out of town and I won’t be able to be an active leader. Other than that I don’t believe anything will come in the way of my activity. STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES: My leadership strengths include being accepting and accommodating towards others, remaining as active as I can throughout the month, and providing a strong example for how things should be going. My leadership weaknesses include struggling to be assertive and as impactful as I feel I need to be, challenges dealing with problems and conflict, and being overly laid-back at times. 1 QUALITY: A quality I admire the most in a leader is inclusivity. I will embody this as a cabin leader by being acceptive and supportive of the needs and accommodations of campers, whether it be the need to take a break for personal reasons, translating text for all the non English speakers wanting to join, and help with writing anything within my cabin. ATMOSPHERE: The atmosphere I aim to create within my cabin is one that is laid-back, cozy, and a fun time for all participants. Though it will play a part in the overall vibe, the competitive aspect of SWC won’t be as big of a factor here, as, at its core, the SWC is simply about writing. EXTRAS: I am able to add points to my cabin on a regular basis. I might be willing to share a promotional project, depending on what it is. I am able to follow all the leadership duties outlined in the FAQs. I will try to communicate with the other leader and decide our plans between each other. Since I will be taking a break for personal reasons around mid November, I will definitely make sure to notify the other leader of my plans so we can plan something out. in the unlikely case that both of us are inactive for the same period of time, I will notify the cabin and try to be partially active during my break.
Made in Canva If you were wondering for some reason, the flags I used to make the backgrounds are the bisexual, pansexual, lesbian, transgender, non-binary, asexual, genderqueer, aromantic, omnisexual, and demigirl flags (I think).
